iogi

by Lily Davey-Gurion | 20.05.19

Tel Aviv-based musician and producer iogi (Yogev Glusman) has been active in the music scene for quite some time. He started as a classical violinist before moving on to bass and guitar and touring with the likes of A-WA, Mercedes Band, Yoni Rechter, and Idan Raichel. As one of the most sought-after bass players in the country, it’s no surprise that iogi took his career a step forward this year, releasing his debut solo album, the ceiling, on Tel Aviv’s esteemed label Raw Tapes. The album was written and composed by iogi and co-produced with Nomok.

By elegantly fusing soothing vocals with distorted guitar notes, iogi creates catchy hooks and gliding melodies that are both emotive and dream-like. Comparable to the likes of Beach House, Real Estate and Washed Out, the ceiling offers an opportunity to zone out and drop any troubling thoughts. If you close your eyes and immerse yourself in any of the nine songs on the album you’ll be reminded that music has that magical ability to transport you elsewhere, to a warm, reassuring place.
